This Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) focuses on Bioscience and Biochemistry. There's a range of units for students wishing to pursue careers in these fields. It's been created for learners who've been out of full time education for some time and don't have the required entry qualifications.

There's no waiting to enrol on a specific start date (traditionally September) as this Access to Higher Education Diploma can be studied from home at anytime in the year.

How does my Access to HE Diploma work?

All of our course materials are easy to understand, and provide you with a broad range of additional information to support your learning. You’ll be allocated a personal tutor who’ll have regular contact with you via our platform or e-mail.

How long it takes you to complete your Access course really depends upon how much time you are able to dedicate to your studies. The programmes are designed to give you the flexibility to study at times that are suitable for you, and to fit your studies around your other commitments. The maximum time you have to complete your Diploma is outlined in your Individual Learning Plan (ILP). The minimum time you can complete your Access course is six months.

How will my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) be assessed?

Your Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) will be made up of a number of units, each of which will require you to complete an assignment. You’ll find ‘assessment planners’ included within the course materials for each unit; these are designed to help you to complete the relevant assignment. Your personal tutor will be responsible for marking your assignments and giving you with feedback about the work you’ve produced, and how you can improve.

All assignments provide the evidence required to award you with learning credits. You will need 60 credits to achieve an Access to Higher Education Diploma. Of the 60 credits required, 15 will be ungraded and 45 will be graded as a Pass, Merit or Distinction.

What happens after the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science)?

The goal is for you to be fully prepared, so you can apply to a University and begin your journey on a biological science related degree course.

After successfully completing an undergraduate course at university, you as a graduate, can enter a wide range of careers. These could include scientist, teacher, researcher, consultant and many more.
