What is the RQF?
The Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) is an Ofqual regulated system of cataloguing qualifications. Qualifications on the RQF can be found by their size or level. Qualifications at a given level can differ depending on their content and purpose.

Web designers and developers use creative and technical skills to create or update a website. They must be able to imagine what a website will look like 'front end', and also understand how it will all work 'back end'.
As a web designer, you could work on a variety of projects, anything from an interactive educational resource, to an online shopping site.
Just some of the projects that you could work on include:
- Developing a secure ecommerce website
- creating a virtual learning environment (VLE) for a school
- making an intranet for staff to use at their company
It depends on the project but you may be contracted to look after the upkeep of a client's website, once it’s finished, so it’s well maintained.
Our Web Design and Development (RQF) course (601/8498/X) is a fully recognised qualification. It takes approximately 40 hours to complete and carries 25 credits - which can be transferred across to progress onto further study.

What can I do once I have successfully completed the Web Design and Development course?
As a web designer and developer, you can actually make a difference and enhance a business. You can alter what the public think of a company by instantly improving their image by refreshing their website or by simply creating one. Places that you can work:
- Freelance – managing your self- employment
- In-house – looking after a company’s website(s)
- Web design agency – constantly working on new projects
You could progress to other job roles or other ICT practitioner qualifications - job roles could include software engineer, app developer or PHP developer.
What are the average salaries for full qualified web designer or developer?
Experienced self-employed (freelance) web developers can earn between £200 and £600 per day. In-house or agency salaries for entry level roles are between £20,000 and £24,000 a year. With some experience under your belt, this can increase to between £25,000 and £35,000.
Lead web developers may earn up to £45,000 or even more per year.
